I am looking for information on Joseph Franklin FOY b. 1871 in Angola, Onslow
County, NC parents were probably Enoch and Marinda (or Marinza) SHEPHERD FOY;
am trying to confirm parents and trace preceding generations; what I have
found so far says Enoch died abt. 1890 in Onslow County, but Marinda was still
living in the 1920's as I have a picture of her taken in Gainesville FL then;
Thanks for your help. Tricia

I am trying to trace my grandfathers background. Ben F SIMMONS was a
farmer and had a farm near the Neuse River . He may have had a general
store near by. He married a Minnie COOPER date unkown, whose mother was
a mid wife. Her death date is unkown. The union produced 3 or 4 sons
with who I know. B. F. SIMMONS died around 1943 or 4. He may have
been born around 1868 or so. I heard my father speak of a cousin by
the name of Schuster BRITTON, who played football for a scool in NC. My
father spoke of Onslow County and the towns around the area. My
Grandfather los the farm in the 30-s and rented tideal rights and oyster
farmed at Topsail Beach. I remembered visiting his shack in the mid
30s. It was built over water so I supposed it was not a deeded
property. This is my first attempt to trace the family and any help
would be gratfully taken. Thank you..
Melvin Simmons
