I would like to update you on my findings so far. I've found some information on my grandfathers family. His dad was Alonza Lee CAVENAUGH, He and my grandfather Ralph Shackelford CAVENAUGH were married to sisters in 1925. My Great grandfather married Bessie WOOD and My Grandfather married Bonnie Adell WOOD. I've located some of Bessie's family but not Adell's. It seems that their parents died (Adell's and Bessie's) and they were raised by different families. Bessie's children said they remember their mother saying she thinks a family in Sneads Ferry raised Adell. This is where I am at this point. Thanks for your help, its a wonderful thing you are doing.

HAWES of Bladen County. Hugh COSTON family migrated to Texas circa 1855-1856. Hugh's father believed to be James COSTON and mother believed to be Ellizabeth THALLY. I have no other information on James COSTON and Elizabeth THALLY. Name of Hugh's first-born son was James Francis COSTON. Thank you very much,
I am seeking information on Alonzo Thomas REDD and his wife Lydia Henderson AMAN. He is the brother of Marquis LF REDD. He was born about 1842. He was probably a sorry lot (he's my great grandfather) but any information would be helpful. I am also seeking the parentage of Zephaniah REDD who was 18 when the Civil War started and lived in the Stump Sound area with the rest of the Redds. Any other infor mation any researchers wish to share would be appreciated.

As you can see I trying a broad pattern to my shot gun. I am looking for the family of James H. BURNETT b. 31 Jan 1814 in Ga. and died 28 Jan 1897 in Live Oak, Suwannee, Fl. He married Margaret Louise WILSON b. 24 may 1819 in Effigham county Ga to Jeremiah WILSON and Elizabeth LUCAS. she died 06 Jun 1895 in Live Oak, Suwannee, FL. James H. BURNETT lived in Brooks county GA when it was cut from Thomas county. He served on the survey crew to establish the county boundaries and as auctioneer for lots in Quitman. I believe he grew up in Irwin county GA and his family was one of the group that migrated from Onslow county NC. As an adult he lived near the family of Daniel and Hannah GRONTO BURNETT who moved to Ga from Onlsow NC. James H. witnessed deeds of the children of Daniel and Hannah and moved with two of their children to Madison county FL in 1840 before returning in 1848 to Thomas county GA. Does anyone tie into this family? Please e-mail me.

I have been searching for information on my grandfather William Anderson GARNER for as long as I can remember. He was in FL. by the 1910 census. He was borne in NC. All the information I have been able to find ties him to Onslow. I found a marriage certificate for a W. A. GARNER and Amanda EDENS in Onslow in 1906. It says his father was a Daniel PINNER and mother was Mary. I know his mothers name was Mary. Don't know what happen to his father. Also the census of FL. said she had six children and only one living which was William. I did find a Mary Garner married a Daniel Pinner. Also the only other Daniel Pinner I found was married to a Sarah and had been for several years in the census. I think there is a connection with the SMITH familles, because I think Mary was a Smith. Also some of the other children married MEADOWS and HALLS. I would like to be able to prove this line very much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Velma Davis.

Elison left the state before 1830 because he appears on the 1830 census in Missouri and he was married in Cape Girardeau MO in 1835. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information about: John MATTHEWS, Rev. Soldier (Corporal, 1776-1780); died intestate in Wilmington District before 1783 leaving bounty land, etc. to heir Luke Matthews (maybe identical with my ancestor Luke MATTHEWS of Martin Co., NC). I'm searching for any estate records regarding the John MATTHEWS estate, and I found deed records in Onslow Co. showing a John MATTHEWS there in the late 1770s, so I suspect he may have lived and died in Onslow. Seeking any proof regarding where the administrator/heir of estate lived (i.e. Luke). Thanks so much for any direction or guidance you might be able to help out with, and thanks in advance for your time. Sincerely,

I am looking for information on the HINES family of Holly Ridge, NC
(Onslow County) - specifically Frank HINES, DOB 1854 and his wife
Hester HOBBS HINES. They are my great grandparents. I would also like
to obtain the names of Frank's parents. I would appreciate any information as
I only have access to the National Archives one Saturday a month for two hours so it is slow going.
Would be happy to share any info I have on the HINES and HOBBS families
of Holly Ridge.
Many thanks!
ETHERIDGE. Has anybody ever seen reference to a place called "Etheridgeville" in Onslow County? I have copies of a number of letters, from the 1850's, written by members of an Onslow County ETHERIDGE family who were originally from Currituck Co. The letters are dated from Etheridgeville, N.C. Was this a real place or was it just their own way of saying "home"?
