James FOYLE/FOIL died in Onslow in 1771 and had 2 daughters unmarried at that time, Elizabeth and Charity. Who did they marry? His will mentions sons John and James. Are there any deeds between 1770 and 1780 mentioning any of these? He had 343 acres, one corner of which was near Piney Island. Where is Piney Island? Executors and witnesses were Mrs. Cox JUN, Benjamin WILLIAMS, Joseph FIQUEA, Acton BRICE, Nuda WILLIAMS. Were any of them related to James FOYLE?

ames MILLS was born 10 Mar 1810 in Richlands and died 19 Sep 1884 in Belgrade. James married Susan Elizabeth JARMAN on 28 Sep 1843 in Richlans. Susan was born 26 Jan 1828 in Richlands and died 23 Jan 1863 in Belgrade. Both are buried in Belgrade. Does anyone know who their parents are? Also, James & Susan's son William Henry MILLS (1844-1926) married Elizabeth Betty HENDERSON (1849-1922) on 24 Oct 1867. Elizabeth's parents are listed in the "Onslow County Heritage" book as Thomas HENDERSON (1812-1870) and Elizabeth TALLMAN (1810-1854) who married on 5 Jun 1826. Isn't 14 and 16 a bit young to be married? Mrs. John N. Starling Sr. on page 195 family #289 has Thomas's parents as Stephen HENDERSON (1751-1846) and Serena HOWARD (1759-1825). Isn't 61 and 53 a bit old to be having children? She also has Stephen's parents as Ezekiel HENDERSON (1755-1826) and Precilla WARD (1745-1792), which is impossible. Ezekiel born 1755 can't give birth to Stephen born 1751, since Ezekial hasn't been born yet! Can anyone help correct these dates and linage of this HENDERSON family?

a#HUGGINSHUGGINSa#LITTLELITTLE posted by T. Vance Little on Monday, January 5, 1998

Early families of Onslow County, NC, seem to have come from Maryland. Was there any particular reason for the migration. How did they come -- by land or by sea. Were they of a common religious affiliation; is so, what was it. I am especially interested in the HUGGINS family. My ancestor Luke HUGGINS lived in adjoining Jones County and was a member of the Chinquapin Creek Chapel Baptist Church. Several of his children joined the "Dillahunty Migration" from Jones County, NC, to Middle Tennessee in 1796. My LITTLE ancestor, Abraham LITTLE, was also a part of that migration. He married Temperance HUGGINS, youngest daughter of Luke HUGGINS. Abraham LITTLE was said to have been a Baptist preacher. My not-so-ulterior motive is to ascertain the origin and lineage of Abraham LITTLE, as well as the HUGGINS connection. Any help and/or guidance will be appreciated. Are there any materials available on the early Baptist church in Eastern NC?

PERRY, Arnold, b: circa 1784, d: circa 1860 Wayne/Logan Co. (W)VA. Arnold PERRY left Onslow Co. NC after 1806 for Floyd Co. KY. Family story says Arnold PERRY's father was killed by lightning, and that his mother remarried Arthur VENTERS. Arthur VENTERS was living in Floyd Co. KY in 1810, with no further information on Arthur. I have found information that in 1799 in Onslow Co. Mary ROBESON married Arthur VENTERS. Was Robeson Mary's maiden name? Who was Arnold PERRY's father? Has anyone any record of a PERRY who was killed by lightning? Does anyone have a listing of Revolutionary War Soldiers that would include a PERRY? Who was Arthur VENTERS' father? Arthur VENTERS had sons named Jesse VENTERS and John VENTERS who also moved to Floyd Co. KY with Arthur. Family story says Arnold PERRY had a sister named Betsy PERRY who married a Jacob SYCK, as well as another brother and sister who "moved back east", presumably to Onslow Co. I need help from anyone who has researched the PERRY Family or VENTERS family of Onslow Co., NC. I have a vast amount of information on Arnold PERRY and his descendants I will glady share. Zane

Christopher DUDLEY will was written 13 Mar 1764 and probated in June Court, 1764 in New Hanover Co, NC. Will mentions wife Margarett, daughter Ann RUTLEDGE, grandson Christopher DUDLELY, son-in-law Edward WARD, grandson Lewis HICKS, son Bishop DUDLEY. Proved June Court 1764. Wit: Stockley Bishop, Wm Townly, Ezeketh Alexander. The history of the Dudley Family from “The Heritage of Onslow County”, 1983, reflects that one Christoper DUDLEY had children: Thomas who settled in Carteret County, Christopher DUDLEY, Jr who settled in New Hanover, William DUDLEY and John DUDLEY of Onslow, Ann DUDLEY married Moses HOUSTON and settled in Carteret County. According to Dudley History, one Christopher DUDLEY married Elizabeth BISHOP and another Christopher DUDLEY married Margaret SNEAD. Since the Margaret SNEAD was not born until 1764, the will of Christopher DUDLEY written in 1764 with wife Margaret cannot be Margaret SNEAD. Who is the Ann RUTLEDGE mentioned in Christopher DUDLEY will of 1764? Which Christoper DUDLEY is she the daughter of? Which RUTLEDGE did Ann RUTLEDGE, dau of Christoper DUDLEY marry?

I have been looking, unsuccessfully so far, for a picture on the internet of the Onslow County Seal which was adopted following a contest three years ago (I think). I have been able to locate the Onslow Family Crest of Sir Arthur Onslow, from which our county seal was adapted, but it is not exactly like the one seen on letterhead and official documents of Onslow County. I'd like to be able to download and print a copy for the purpose of scanning it onto a project cover I'm working on. Any information--reference, resource, a direction to look in--would be appreciated. Thanks for your help,

MITCHELL, CARVER. I am looking for the descendants of Anthony MITCHELL who died 1785 in Onslow County. He owned land on Queen's Creek. His widow, Barsheba settled his estate. He may have had a daughter, Talitha, who married John Henry CARVER in 1788. John Henry Carver was a Quaker and took Talitha and his family to Ohio about 1789. Anthony Mitchell did have a son, George, and daughter, Salome, who were bound to John H. Carver in Jan 1792, George then 16, and Salome 14. Salome married William HASKINS April 14, 1801. Anthony Mitchell may have had other daughters, Anne who married Archibald HASKINS Dec 17, 1796, and Lyda, who married Thomas MELTON Apr 21, 1794.

cMy great, great, great grandfather's name was Lemuel WILLIAMS of Onslow County. He was born in February of 1800 and was married to either Ann or Nancy COX. Her name could have been Nancy Ann COX. It is thought her parents were Charles and Sara COX. we believe Lemuel's father's name Was LemueL WILLIAMS also and he was possibly married to "Elizabeth." I have not been able to trace this family any further back. I have found quite a few land sale records for Lemuel WILLIAMS around 1830 which mention the names, MUMFORD, GREGORY, BASDEN. Thank you for any information you may have. I would also appreciate any information anyone may have on Drury HALL of Onslow County. The name could possibly be spelled Drewry. He was the father of Solomon HALL of Duplin County and the husband of Blanche THIGPEN. Solomon HALL lived in the Hallsville area of Duplin County, but I cann't connect him to the Hall family trees already in existence. Thank you,
