m#TREADWELLTREADWELL posted by Ken Treadwell on Saturday, May 8, 1999

I am researching the TREADWELL family. John Treadwell left CT in 1729 to go to the Carolinas. The first record I have of him in the Carolinas is in the Records of Onslow County, NC Deed Book C where he witnessed a deed from James Murray, Sr., to Joseph Parker on 30 March 1748.

John Treadwell then purchased 100 acres on the second fork of Lewis Creek for 120 pounds on 7 April 1749 according to Deed Book C and abstracted in "Records of Onslow County, NC Vol. I" by Gwynn in 1961.

My question: Do you think that there might be any earlier record which places John Treadwell in Onslow County before 1748? Thanks for your consideration of this request.

I've run into a blank wall. My grandfather was traced back to Wilmington, NC in the 1880 census showing the following family unit:
John Justice, age 33 a white male born in NC married to Caroline, age 20 born in NC:
Children were::
Theo Nix, a son age, 9 born, in NC:
Ella V., a daughter, age 8, born in NC:
John E., a son, age 5, born in NC:
Maggie, a daughter, age 3, born in NC:
Jas. Cris, a son, age 9 months, born in NC:
:
Further research in the St. James Church records shows: Theo Nix to be Theophilus Nixon, born on 2/5/1872:
Ella V. to be Ella Viola, born on 9/2/1873:
John E. to be John Elza, born on 12/15/1874:
Maggie to be Margaret Virginia, born on 7/15/4877:
Jas. Cris to be James Christopher, born on 8/31/1879:
Carloine Justice was Susan Caroline Littleton, born 8/12/1849:
Her parents were Samuel Littleton and Sabra:
The marriage License for John and Caroline show: They were married on 6/23/1870:
I have mailed over ten letters to "Littletons" living in the Wilmington area with no positive response. I don't know how to crack this nut.:
I would like to find out more about the father, John Justice, his wife and her family and the families of the children. :
