I am trying to locate and document the parentage of Jeremiah BULLOCK of Granville Co., NC. I find in "Records of Onslow Co., NC" that a Tristram BULLOCK was administrator of the estate of Richard PITTS in Onslow Co. ca 1734; signed as a witness to a land survey record on February 27, 1715; served as a comissioner of roads; and, sometime between 1734-1744, Tristram died there. His wife, Hannah BULLOCK, pet. the courts for letters of administration for her husband's estate (no dates listed). In 1736 George BULLOCK, eldest son of Tristram, pet. the court...Note on this entry-Tristram also had a son, Jeremiah. The time frame is right as Jeremiah was b. ca 1690 and d. 1757, Granville, Co., leaving a will there. Can anyone help me or does anyone know anything about these records? I will gladly share any information I have. My husband is descended from Charles BULLOCK, son of Jeremiah.

I am in search of any information pertaining to Ann (GIBSON) LIPSEY. She is mentioned in the will of William GIBSON, Sr. His will was written in August, 1784, with a codicil added on 25 December, 1788 (no probate date is given). Also mentioned in this will were: sons Isaac, Abraham, William, Daniel, and Thomas GIBSON; daughters, Rebecka FIELDS, Hanah SIMSON, and Ann LIPSEY; his wife Mary; his son-in-law, James FIELD, and son-in-law, Robert GRIMES; grandsons, Tobias KOONCE and Isaac GIBSON, Jr. (Onslow Co., N. C. Wills, Vol. 2, page 26). William GIBSON, Jr.'s daughter, Cassandra "Casey" GIBSON, married John TALMAN (also TALLMAN). Which LIPSEY did Ann GIBSON marry??? Any help with this lineage is most appreciated. Thank you!

I am in search of any information pertaining to Charles THOMPSON & his wife, Urina (LIPSEY) THOMPSON. She was the daughter of Isaac LIPSEY & Betsey (NEWTON) LIPSEY. Urina is identified as married to a THOMPSON (a brother of Charles' who dies prior to their marriage?) in her father's will of 1826. However, "Urinah THOMPSON," not referred to with maiden surname, marries a Charles THOMPSON on 10 October, 1830, with John TROTT (bd) & D.W. SANDERS (wt). Source is Gwynn's Abstracts on Onslow County Volume 2, pg. 1561. Was she married to another Thompson before Charles? Any help with this lineage is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm searching for information on William SOUTHERLAND, b. 1805, d. about 1880. He was married to Annie RUTLEDGE, and their children were William, John Hill, and Nancy. He appears in the 1870 census of Onslow Co. without his wife, and having only John Hill and Nancy as dependants. They lived in Richlands, and John Hill remained there to raise his family.

Do you know where Zae Hargett GWYNN lives or lived? I know nothing about where she is from, only read in the Onslow Heritage book that she was from the same line as myself. I want to try to find out if she is alive. Thanks!

I am seeking information on John YOUNG, born 1796 in Onslow Co. to Edward and Excelina RHODES YOUNG. Excelina was the daughter of Woodhouse and Elizabeth HATCH RHODES. Edward Young died before John was to be born and Excelina YOUNG married second William Isler HARGETT in 1799,and had the following children: George Peter, Joseph, and Nathan HARGETT. I understand they moved to Haywood Co., TN in about 1830. The author of "Records of Onslow Co.", Zae Hargett Gwynn, is a descedant of this Hargett family. Any information on Zae would be appreciated also. I believe John YOUNG did not make the move to TN with the HARGETT family, but remained in Onslow County. Any information on these families would be appreciated.

My mother was from Onslow County and her family had been there for many years. I am search for information on a Julia STYRON. I do not have a birth or death date or name of parents. Julia married Edward Starkey MCGOWAN and he was born about 1826. Julia was buried in the old Bryan Cemetary near Camp Perry. Do you know if the above cemetary still exists? Can you refer me to someone who might know something about the cemetaries in the area? Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

a#DIXONDIXON posted by Polly Dixon on Monday, May 25, 1998

Onslow Murrell DIXON was my paternal great-grandfather. I apologize for this long message. My descendancy is as follows: (1) Onslow Murrell DIXON (01 Feb 1833 - 20 Aug 1873) + 15 Nov 1859 to Margaret Ann Rhea (27 May 1832 - 16 Mar 1919) (2) James Harvey DIXON (28 Oct 1869 - 17 Apr 1949) + 03 Oct 1901 to Mary Ann Wright (13 Jan 1867 - 26 Feb 1949) (3) Robert Onslow DIXON (21 July 1902-30 July 1971) + 19 Dec 1928 to Nina Pauline Brown (26 Sept 1905 - 17 Sept 1992) (4) Polly DIXON (nee Mary Pauline - name legally changed) (14 June 1932-) (me) I have searched for years for Onslow Murrell Dixon's parents. I was told in 1979 by my uncle that Onslow was either an orphan or (probably) an illegitimate child. It seems likely that Onslow Murrell Dixon was named for Onslow G. Murrell, a prominent businessman in McMinn Co., TN during the early to mid-1800s. FACTS KNOWN ABOUT Onslow Murrell DIXON: (1) Born 01 Feb 1833 according to his family Bible (which I own) and his tombstone in New Providence Baptist Church Cem., Monroe Co, TN. (2) Born TN, according to 1850 McMinn Co., TN census and Bible of his son, James Harvey Dixon, my grandfather (I also own this Bible). (3) 5 June 1837, Court Minutes, McMinn Co., TN, p. 319: "Apprentice indenture binding Onslow Murrell Dixon a minor of the age of four years to James Baker signed by the proper persons in open court."
