My line is Edward J. WILLIAMS (18031-1849) Onslow, m. 1824, Mary HOOKS (1807-1859) Duplin. Edw. J. WILLIAMS was the son of Obed WILLIAMS c.(1768-1810)Onslow & Susan Randall JOHNSTON c.(1783-1828)Onslow. Mary HOOKS was the daughter of Col. David HOOKS c.(1770-1836)Bertie and Susanna DICKSON c.(1790-1856)Duplin. The Williams family was originally from I.O.W. County, VA. as was the Johnston family. Edw. J. WILLIAMS moved to Sumter County, Alabama about 1735 and both he and Mary died there. They were my great-grandparents.

Was in 1850 Onslow Census; 1860 Pontotoc MS Census; 1870 Onslow Census. 1st wife, Eliza Jane WOODFIN, d. PontotocMS. Presumed he returned to Onslow. Descendants/Ancestors of BROCIAH (or BROSIAH) and TEMPIE CATHERINE (maiden Andrews) COLE born Duplin County, moved Onslow County Southwest-Pony Farm Rd area late 1800s. Also, JOSEPHUS and ELIZABETH "BETTIE" (maiden Melton) MORRIS both born Onslow County early to mid 1800s. Family of JOSEPHUS MORRIS originated Craven County (Vanceboro?), moved to Belgrade- Swansboro Road area; family of BETTIE MORRIS lived Hubert- Swansboro area. Know gravesites and have pics all 4 individuals, info on approx 600 extended family, much info 12 children of Coles, some info 5 children of Morrises. Traced some of Morrises to Ga and Fla. Can anyone explain the name change from SKIPPER to SKIPWORTH, I am not for certain these are my ancestors, but could be a strong possibility. The following IS my direct line; a couple of questions at the end.

1807-08 NC\TN (they married) abt 1829 NC\TN.

*James and *Mary are listed living with their daughter and son-in-law, in first district household #208 Clay Co., TN 1870 Census.

Can anyone tell me where to look for a marriage bond on James and Mary? Any help will be welcomed.

RALEY/OWEN/GIBSON: Charles Raley b. 1764 Onslow Co., NC, d. 1839 Morgan Co., AL, m. 1789 Kershaw, SC, Sarah Owen, b. 1774 SC, d. 1865 Morgan Co., AL. Charles Rev. War Soldier enlisted Kershaw Co. SC. His Bible/prayer Book lists all his childrens births plus my husbands gggrandfather Jonathan Gibson b. 27 Oct 1803 SC and Elizabeth Owen b. 29 Nov.____. What is the connection between these families. Isaac Gibson was living next door in SC, who is believed to be Jonathan's father. Was Isaac married to a Raley or Owen?. Raley's left SC in 1818 moved to Madison Co., AL and on to Morgan Co., AL. Am seeking info on ancestors/descendants of Brosiah (Brociah) and Tempie Catherine Andrews COLE. Also Josephus and Elizabeth (Bettie) (maiden name MELTON) MORRIS. Brosiah and Tempie moved to Southwest-Pony Farm Road area in after 1870s from Duplin County. Had 12 children. Josephus and Bettie lived in Belgrade-Swansboro Road and Hubert area. Had 4 sons 1 daughter (my grandmother). Have Broderbund family tree started with approximately 800 individuals between Coles and Morrises. Know burial sites and have pics all 4 named here.
