I am interested in hearing from anyone with information on a William P. WATSON and (son?) John (D.?) WATSON, a Measy/or/Neasy ARNOLD and Ellen ASKINs. I found these people in a deed showing my SMITH relatives as heirs (specifically to Measy and Ellen). It's possible that Measy was married to William P. WATSON or maybe they were sibblings. And I'm not sure who Ellen is, but I know she must be a direct link to my relatives as my Smith's were her heirs. Any/all information would be greatly appreciate. Please contact me via my e-mail. THANKS BUNCHES!

The Wilmington Journal, Friday, July 13, 1849 reflects that Mr. W. D. SPARKMAN married in Onslow County, on 28 June, 1849, Mrs. Zilpha ENNETT, all of Onslow County. I believe her maiden name may have been Zilpha KING. Who were the parents of W. D. SPARKMAN? Will exchange information on these families.

If your Onslow family moved to Jefferson/Burke Co Ga between 1810/1820 and then on to Southeasr Al (Lowndes, Montgomery Butler) in 1830's, I would like to compare notes with you. My Ephraim KING, b. 1781 in NC was in the 1810 Onslow Co. Census. He living between Milla BRYAN and Fredirick FOYE, Esq. There is a thorey that Ephraim is a son of Michjah KING, also of Onslow. The only other evidence of Ephraim KING is his name on the War of 1812 Roster. It is interesting to note that Michjah KING is also listed on this same Roster. A Micahjah KING, JR is also listed in the tax rolls of Onslow; Listed in 1820 Jefferson CO. GA, and Butler Co. AL. Were Ephraim and Michjah Jr. Brothers?? Ephraim KING also witnessed a deed in 1808 were a William KING sold land to a Soloman HENDERSON. Micahjah KING

m#WISEWISE posted by Jeff Wise on Sunday, December 13, 1998

I am doing research on my ancestors who alledgedly moved from Onslow County, NC between 1825 and 1830 to Barbour County, Alabama. This included Ezekiel WISE (supposedly born in Onslow County, 1799), his brother Ephraim WISE, and possibly another brother Richard WISE. Can you confirm or refute any of this information? Do you know the parents of Ezekiel/Ephraim/Richard? Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

: I am interested in "...an indictment for murder, tried before Strange, J., at Duplin, on the last circuit. The prisoner was convicted, and a motion for a new trial being overruled, and judgement of death pronounced, he appealed." Others involved (at Raleigh, we believe--think we'll have to have our lawyer read some of this!) were Justice DANIEL, Chief Justice HENDERSON, and Justice RUFFIN. THE STATE v. ISAAC D. LIPSEY. This case took place in December Term of 1832. Hardy NEWTON was a material witness for the prisoner. We believe that Hardy was Isaac first cousin once removed. Isaac D. LIPSEY was the son of Isaac LIPSEY and Betsey NEWTON of Onslow County, NC. Besey's father was Daniel NEWTON (also of Onslow--d. 1832). Daniel's brother Elijah (d. 1794, Onslow) was the father of Hardy, most likely. We are very interested in knowing more about this case--at the county level. As we read it, it appears as though an individual from Duplin County, NC, was murdered. Interestingly enough, Isaac D. LIPSEY had been briefly we to Sindena (---) MARSHALL, the widow of Hawkins MARSHALL at this time. They wed on 10 July 1832 in Onslow County, NC.

Would like to have help identifying the William W. Leveritt, a witness, in the following court record:
"...Issac GRANT of Scriven County, Georgia, appoints John GRANT of Onslow County, NC his attorney to take into his possession a tract of land in Onslow Co., which he inherited from his father John GRANT, Sr., which said land was granted to Alexander GRANT. Tests: William GRANT, William W. LEVERITT Mar. 29, 1817."
Source: Zae Hargett Gwynn, Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, Volume II (1734-1850) 1961, 979. Gwynn cites Deed Book 7 (1816-1817), 227.
Thank you for considering my query.

I am researching my WISE line, and noticed there were no Wises in the 1790 Onslow County Census Information. I will give you a little background information, and perhaps you can direct me to a source:

From the famous Col. John Wise of Accomack County, Virginia (emigrated to Virginia in 1635), some descendants moved to Maryland/Delaware, probably Somerset County, MD. A son named Thomas Wise moved from there to Carteret County, NC. He had a son named Ezekiel. There were probably other Wises of Thomas' generation because my earliest proven ancestor was Ezekiel Wise (born circa 1799, Onslow County, NC, died 1874, Barbour County, Alabama) was not Thomas' son. Thomas' wife Mary Harney was born circa 1734 in Sussex County, DE.

My Ezekiel had probably a brother, or maybe a cousin Ephraim Wise, and they left NC for Alabama circa 1827.

If you can provide any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am working on the HINES line of Holly Ridge. I recently printed a book on Elijah Jackson Hines descendants, as far as I could make it complete. I am currently working on his brothers, Francis "Frank" Arthur Hines and William Thomas Hines. Nathaniel Starkey Hines' line ended with his children. Three other siblings died apparently between 1860 and 1870.
