The death certificate of my ancestor James Calvin KING reflects that his father was Elijah KING, born in Onslow County. The 1850 census of Onslow County, Southwest District reflects: Elijah KING, Age 35, Occupation - Cooper; Mary KING, Age 35; Nathaniel KING, Age 13; Nancy KING, Age 8; George KING, Age 6; Mary Ann KING, Age 4; and Serena KING, Age 1. His spouse was Mary Ann MURRAY of Duplin Co, NC. Family tradition has it that Elijah KING was a peace officer in Onslow County at one time and waskilled by a black man he had gone to arrest. Seeking information on the parents of Elijah KING. Will share descendants to date.

Does anyone have information on Annie HOWARD of Onslow county,NC? She may be Anna instead of Annie. She married James ROWE in Onslow 1794. Also want info on a family of HERMANS who once lived on the N.E.Cape Fear River near Burgaw. My understanding is they were a German family. Burgaw is in Pender co.,NC. Stories I heard from ancestors is this : Mr Herman had a son named Otto. He also had a daughter. He was perhaps a German spy--had something to do with the NORTON BOMB SITE.Has anyone ever heard of this? I know he was friends with the Rowe family and when he left,he left a lot of beautiful furniture with the Rowe family.I don't know how much is rumor or fact, but Mr Herman was supposed to have a big gun in a bunker aimed at the bridge. The gun was supposed to have been the kind that was raised up to shoot, then lowered into the bunker. I would love to prove or disprove this story. My understanding is that Otto would have been born around 1908. Carrie Rowe
