MARTIN (possibly Onslow Co.) Around 1817, Ann THOMAS married Enoch FULFORD of Carteret Co. He died before he was 30 years old (in 1824), and she married a man named Robert MARTIN. I have been unable to locate them in Craven or Carteret Counties; could he have lived in Onslow Co.? If you have any information on Ann FULFORD and Robert MARTIN, please contact me. She was my great-great grandmother, and I would like to learn more about her - where she is buried, possible children by Martin. Thank you. Florence Fulford Moore

I am seeking the parents of Serena CORBETT who was living with the KIDD family in Onslow county with her siblings in 1850, her brothers John, William and Christopher. Could you give the birth and death dates on the Corbett Cemetery people in Swansboro--James Patrick CORBETT and Kathleen BURRIS CORBETT? Thank you. Serena was my husbands great great grandmother who married Thomas SMITH of New Hanover Co.

Seeking information on Henry HENDERSON (b ca 1813). He is recorded as having married Margaret HATSELL (nee WARD), a widow with two children in Onslow Co. in 1844. They had twin daughters in 1845 and my grandfather (Isaac N. Henderson) was born in Duck Creek, NC (now part of Camp LeJeune) in 1847. In the 1850 census, the family was lving in Carteret Co. (his age listed as 37 in that census is the only known indicator of his age). I seek any information as to Henry Henderson's (and especially any middle name, etc.) birthplace date of birth and parents. Many thanks, Bruce Henderson bhenders AT landrover dotcom (To avoid "Spam" I have altered my address here. Please convert to usual format - thanks.)

a#BULLOCKBULLOCKa#HARNEYHARNEYm#WISEWISE posted by Dennis Wise on Thursday, April 22, 1999

I am a descendant of Ezekiel WISE, who was born circa 1797 in NC (1860 census says he was born circa 1797 in GA) and died 1874 in Barbour County, AL. He patented land near Rocky Mount Church in Barbour County 1835 -1845. In the 1830 Census, he was listed in Pike Co., AL and probably lived in the part that was cut into Barbour County in 1832. His wife, Winneford BULLOCK, was born circa 1805 in GA (1860 Census says she was born circa 1808 in AL) and died after 1880. They had eight children: Lovie J., Elizabeth, James H., Lemuel L., Mary Jane, Thomas, John Edward and Susan Amanda. Also living in the area, was Ephriam S. WISE, born circa 1800 NC, died 21 Nov 1882. He patented land in Barbour County in 1849. He married Martha Ann (Milligan?) and had eight children.

The following abstract is from page 1385 of the Onslow County, NC Abstracts of the Wills:
142 - Wise, Thomas. Mar. 30, 1807-June, 1807. To wife Mary; sons Matthew, Selby H., Thomas, and Ezekeul; daughters Hannah Bell, Elizabeth Wise, Sarah Tanner. Exrs: wife Mary Wise and son Selby H. Wise. Tests: Daniel Rogers, William Howard, Sarah Owens.

Based on information I found at http://www.webspawner.com/users/HarneyFamily, I believe that the reference to wife Mary pertains to Mary Harney, daughter of Thomas Harney and Hannah Mills. It seems quite likely that my ancestor Ezekiel is either the son of Thomas mentioned in the will, or the son of one of Thomas' sons. I would greatly appreciate any records - birth, marriage, death, or land - regarding any of the people mentioned in the abstract. I would also be very interested in seeing the text of the will.

My compliments to you for such a good, informative internet site. I found the census data by Fred M. Hintz particularly useful.

I hope you can help me further or direct me to someone who might. I am trying to track my ancestors, but have reached a roadblock that I am haveing a very hard time breaking through.

I am a descendant of John H. WATERS who, with his wife Sarah, farmed and raised a family of 11 in Pike County Alabama beginning in 1837. Mr. Waters' roots were in North Carolina. So were his wife's.

Some sources indicate Mr. WATERS was born somewhere in the state on February 5, 1814. His father, James WATERS, was born in NC in 1787.

I have reasons to believe that the James WATERS listed in the 1820 Onslow County census is the father of John H. WATERS. But I don't have any proof. I believe that the father of James WATERS is the John WATERS listed in the 1790 Duplin County census, but again I have no proof.

I believe the 1814 marriage occurred either in Duplin or Onslow County. His wife's maiden name was Sarah Jane STEPHENS.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
