In the name of God Amen the eleaventh day of October one thousand seven hundred
and fifty…I Samuel Moor of New River in Onslow County North Carrolina being sick
in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God: and caulling
remembrance the Uncertain Estate of the Transitory Life and all Flesh must
(uncertain of the word used) unto death when it shall please God to call: Do
make Constitute Ordain and Declare this my Last will and Testament in manner &
form falling Revoking and disannulling by those presents all and every Testament
& Testaments will & wills heretofore by me made & declared either by word or
writing and this to be taken only for my Last will & Testament & none other and
first being (unclear, maybe you can make it out)from the Bottom of my hart for
my past Sins most humbly desiring forgiveness of the Same I give & commit my Soul
unto Almighty God my Savour and Redeemer in whom & by the merits of Jesus Christ
I trust and believe assuredly to be saved & to have full Remission & forgiveness
of all my sins & that my soul with my body at the general Resurrection shall Rise
Again through (unclear) merits Christ's death & passion (unclear) and Inherit the
Kingdom of Heaven Prepared for his Elect & Chosen & my body to be Buried in Such
my Executors here after named shall appoint and now for Settleing of my Temporal
Estate and Such goods Chattles Lands Debts as it hath Pleased God far above my
(unclear, same word as before) upon me to order and dispose of the Same in Manner
and form following: That is to Say first, I will that All those debts and duties
as I owe in Right of Conscionce to any manner of Person or persons whatsoever
shall be well & truly Contented & paid or ordained to be paid within conveinents
time after my (unclear) by my Executors hereafter Named.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Moor one Negro man caulled Simon.
Item I give unto my daughter Sarah one Shilling Sterling
Item I give unto my daughter Mary one Shilling Sterling
Item I give unto my daughter Allethea Moor five pound Sterling and one likely
Cow and Calf & one Sow & pigs
Item I furthermore give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Moor two hundred acars
of land lying on a branch of the Sou most of New River Joyining of Thomas Hisc &
Abra. Kible.
I likewise will that all my moveable estates of goods and chattels be sold and
the money to be put out on good secureity for the use of my two sons Thomas and
Samuel Moor Till they come to the age of twenty one years and then to be equally
devoided betwisct them.
Item It is my will and desire to appoint my well beloved Brother Obadiah Moor
and Theopphilus Williams of New River my full and sole executors of this my Last
Will and Testament and Likewise will that my Brother Obadiah Moor may live on
this plantation till Samuel be of age.
Furthormore it is my will that my two sons have learning and be bound out to
trade in the name of God Amen.
In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
eleaventh day of October 1750
