In the Name of God Amen I John Newton of Onslow County in the province of North Carolina Planter Being in Helth of Body & Disposeing Mind and Memory to make this my Last Will & Testement that is to say Chief of all I Commend my Sould, to the Mercys of God my Maker through the Merrits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer, and my Body to the Grave——

and as for my Worldly good I Dispose of them as followeth after my Just Debts is paid

Item I Give & Bequeath to my Son Elijah Newton Four Hundred Acres of Land that I Bought of Angelies Howard and seventy Five Acres that I took up joining to it and in Case my Negro Girl Named Alce Should Bread the second-Living Child that Shall Live to the Age of one year to him and his Heirs and Assigns for Ever——

Item I Give and Bequeath to my Son Daniel Newton Two Hundred and forty Acres of Land that I Bought of Joseph Howard Senr and Joseph Howard Jun his Mother his Mother [repeated???] Having the use of the Land that I Bought of Joseph Howard Sen her Lifetime—and Likewise Fifty Acres of Land I Took up lying Between Mitchell Morgains and any sell to Be to Him and his Heirs and Assigns for Ever——

Item I Will and Bequeath to my Daughter Ann Morton One Shilling Starling-----

Item I Will and Bequeath to my Daughter Helen Dulany One Cow & Calf and in case as above said that my Negro Girl should Breed the first Child that Shall Live to the Age of One year to her and her heirs and Assigns for Ever——

Item I Give and Bequeath to my son Marmeduke Newton Forty Pound to be paid to him at the age of Twenty One Year By Daniel my son But of his part of Legesey Given Likewise One Riding Creature to him and his heirs and Assigns for Ever

Item I Give and Bequeath to my Son Benjamin Newton Fifty Pounds to Bepaid to him at the age of Twenty One years By Elijah Newton Out of his part of the Leageseys Given him & One Riding Creature to him and his Heirs and Assigns for Ever——

Item I Likewise Lend to my wife Elisabeth Newton my Negro Girl Alce and all the Rest of my Personal Estate Indureing her Natural Life and after the Death of my wife my Negro Girl to Be to my Son Daniel and all her Issue Excepting her this [???] as above Mentioned to him and his heirs and assigns for Ever—

and at the Deceas of my wife all the Rest of my Estate Lent to my said wife to Be sold at Publick Vandue and the Money Ariseing there from to Be Equally Divided Between my Two Sons Marmeduke & Benjamin Newton By Executors Hereafter Mentioned when they shall a Rive to the age of Twenty One years to them and their heirs and assigns for Ever—

Further I Constitute and appoint my Son Elijah Newton – Daniel Newton & Thomas Dulany Executors of this my last Last will and Testement Revokeing all former and other—Wills by me at any Time made Before Made & Declaring this only to be my Last will and Testement in Witness Whereof I have here unto Set my hand and affixed my seal this Twenty day of April 1777——
