In the Name of God Amen. I Elijah Newton of the County of Onslow & State of North Carolina Being Very Sick and Weak in Body But of Perfect Memory, Therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed fo all Men [???] to Die, do Make & ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, first of all I Recommend my Soul [wiped off "to"] unto the hands of God—that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be buryed in a Deacent Christan Buryel at the Discretion of my Executor Nothing Doubting But at the General Resurrection to Receive the same again By the Mighty Power of God, and as tuching? my wourldly Estate whare with it hath pleased God to Bless me with I give Dismiss & Dispose of the same in the following Manner and form

Impemiss I lend unto my Well Belove wife Elizabeth Newton my plantation whare on I now live with my Horses Cattle and hogg and Plantation Tools and Household furniture to raise and school my son Hardy Newton upon Except it Be such as I shall part as I shall hereafter Mention to her Endureing her Natural life

Item I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Nancy Newton One Mare & Colt one feather Bed and furniture Two Cows & Calvs bordatthe to her her Heirs and assigns for Ever - - - - -

Item I Give and bequeathto Sary Newton my Daughter two Cows and Calvs one feather Bed and farm tools to her her Heirs and assigns for Ever—

Item I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Anne Newton two Cows & Calvs one feather Bed & furniture to her her Heirs & assigns for Ever—

Item I further lend to my wife Elizabeth Newton the Use of my Negroes(to suit)[???] Adam & Cesar & Raskel Enduring her Natural life, my Will is [pure?] then that Neptune should be sold with—

such of my Moveable Property or may be Thought Proper with three Hundred Acres of land Bought of Edward Milton - - - - -

Item I Give and Bequeath to my sons Hardy Newton at the Death of my wife Elizabeth Newton Four Hundred and Seventy Five Acres of land that I now live on willd to me by my father which he Bought of Angelies & Ann Howard to him his Heirs and Assigns for Ever

Item My Will is that at the Death of my wife Elizabeth Newton that the Remaining part of my Estate be Equally Divided between Nancy Newton Sary Newton Anne Newton and Hardy Newton

At an Inferior Cour of please ad Quarter sessions begun

April Term 1794} and held for the Court aforesaid at the Court House therein on the 2d Monday of April 1794, Present the worshipfull Amos Love Esqr and the rest of the Justices for said County. When the Last Will and Testament of Elijah Newton Decd was duely provd before the Court by the Oath of Daniel Newton one of the Subscribing Witnesses thereto and Benjamin Newton, the Sold Executor therein Namd appeard before the Court and was duely Qualified by takeing the [weal???] Oath of an Executor——
