Obituary of Starkey Woodrow Miller ~ 2008

Jacksonville—Starkey Woodrow Miller, 91, of Jacksonville, N.C. passed 
away on Monday, March 3, 2008.  Mr. Miller was born in Jones County 
on February 12, 1917, to the late Hampton and Belle Mills Miller.  In 
addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine 
Westbrook Miller.  Mr. Miller will be remembered as a loving father, 
grandfather, and brother who enjoyed working in his garden, NASCAR 
racing, making homemade wine and spending time with family and 
friends.  After serving his Country with the U.S. Army, he spent his life 
farming.  Mr. Miller is survived by his daughter, Dale Evans Rich of 
Trenton; son Benjamin G. Miller and wife Joyce, of Pink Hill; grandson 
Jimmy Rich of Wrightsville Beach; sisters Bonnie Leary and Louise 
Futrell and husband Norvin, all of Jacksonville, Hazel Stallings and 
husband Paul, of Trenton and Estelle Smith and husband Jerry, of 
Richlands; brothers, Clifton Miller and wife Edna, of Comfort, Bruce 
Miller of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral 
services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 
Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston with the Reverend Vic Murdy 
officiating.  Visitation will follow the service.  Graveside services will take 
place at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 5, 2008, at the Mills Family 
Cemetery, Hwy 41 in Jones County.  Funeral arrangements by
