Obituary of S N "Red" Beckham ~ 2005
S.N. "Red" Beckham, 81, of Jacksonville, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Craven
Regional Medical Center in New Bern.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home chapel in
Jacksonville with the Rev. Terry Golden officiating.
Burial will follow with Masonic Rites at the Burns Family Cemetery in Bear
Creek.
A native of Carthage, Miss., he was a son of the late Henry and Delia Beckham.
Red was a veteran of World War II, having served for eight years with the
United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the New River Masonic Lodge
736, Scottish Rites and the Shriners, where he was a Roadrunner. He was a
driver for Trailways Bus for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Burns Beckham of the home; son, Daniel
Beckham and wife, Susan, of Canton, Ohio; stepdaughter, Tressa Lloyd Best and
husband, Bobby, of Raleigh; grandson, Kyle Beckham and wife, Allison, of
Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Danielle Haines and husband, Scott, of
Massillon, Ohio; stepgrandson, Kevin Best and wife, Natalie, of Durham;
stepgranddaughter, Sheila Best of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Sidney Haines
and Magnus Haines of Massillon, Ohio; two sisters, Edna Cox of Pearl, Miss.,
and Winnie Raspberry of Carthage, Miss.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Red's
memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa,
Fla., 33607-1460.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral
Home.
