Hubert, N.C.—Katherine Williams Coston, 91, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, 
at her home.  She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Lenoir County and was the 
daughter of Benjamin Franklin

the first graduating class of Southwood School, a graduate of Woman’s College 
UNC-Greensboro and taught in Onslow County schools for more than 30 years, 
primarily at White Oak School.  She was active in the Retired Teachers 
Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a faithful member of Midway 
United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and was a longtime member of the 
Home Demonstration Club.  She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur 
Maynard Coston; sister, Margaret Hazel Williams; and brothers Edward James 
Williams, Milton Roscoe Williams and Benjamin Elbert Williams.  Survivors 
include two daughters, Linda Clements and husband, Don, of Atlantic Beach, 
and Nancy Coston of Chapel Hill; three sons, Ben Coston and wife, Sue, of 
Greensboro, Arthur Coston of Chapel Hill and Jerry Coston of Hubert; sister 
Marie Williams Ball of Providence, R.E., granddaughter

held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at Midway United Methodist Church in 
Stella with the Rev. James McLean and the Rev. Dufrene Cummings officiating.
