Obituary IRA REECE, ONSLOW FARMER, 25, PASSES NEAR RICHLANDS, Kinston, August 30 - 
Death of Ira Reece, 25, a tenant farmer on the Lynwood Barbee farm near 
Richlands, Tuesday night brought fresh grief to relatives who Friday attended 
rites for his brother, Herbert, 30. 
It was reported the entire Reece family suffered mild attacks of ptomaine 
poisoning following eating of tinned meat last week. Herbert was found dead 
in bed at 9 a.m. Friday. He had been Ill. 
Ira was ill at the time but recovering. He developed pneumonia. Doctors said 
he succumbed to bronchial pneumonia. 
The funeral was to be held from the residence with burial in a family cemetery
on the farm, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. 
Surviving are a widow, Mrs. Inez Reece; his mother, Mrs. Dollie Reece; a 
daughter, Velma Reece and two sisters, Mrs. Fonnie Penny and Mrs. Leon Melton.
The Reeces are well known in Onslow County.
