Obituary of Beverly Joyce Burton Hurst ~ 2009




 
BEAR CREEK - Beverly Joyce Burton Hurst, 72, of Bear Creek, entered her 
Fathers kingdom on Aug. 25, 2009. She now rests safely in his loving arms.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Bear Creek 
Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Golden officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Burns Family Cemetery.

Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., she was the daughter of Earl and Birdine Burton. 
Beverly was a nurse's aide most of their life and worked for a number of 
years at Onslow Memorial Hospital where she lovingly took care of her 
patients. Her life was devoted to others and after leaving Onslow Memorial 
Hospital she continued to care for those in need. She gave generously and 
expected nothing in return. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends and 
making things with her hands, quilting, crocheting, knitting and cross 
stitching to name a few.

She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Besides her parents Beverly is preceded in death by two infant children and a 
sister Donna Burton; and brother, Dan Burton.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin Hunter Hurst; son, Anson Carey Miller 
and his wife Janet Miller and beloved grandson, Christopher Miller all of 
Hubert; sisters, Carolyn Gammon and husband, Frank Gammon of Florida, 
Paulette Leonard and husband, Lawrence Leonard of Michigan and Linda Ayers 
and husband, Bill Ayers of Arizona; brother, Richard Burton of Michigan; 
sister-in-law, Donna Smith and her husband, Randy of Texas; brother-in-law, 
Sherrill Hurst and his wife, Faye of Hubert; special nephews, William Todd 
Sneed and his wife, Dale Sneed of Virginia, Jerry Sneed of Tennessee and 
Scott Sneed and his wife, Dana Sneed of Michigan; and several other nieces 
and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the American Cancer 
Society , 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home 
of Swansboro.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sherba Fuller and Dee 
Dee Lumpkin of Onslow County Home Health and Hospice, Scott McCallon, Paula 
Keagy, Kay Lewis and Dr. Bonnie Goodwin for their loving care during her 
illness. A special Thanks to Terry and Vicki Golden and numerous others who 
visited, prayed, sent cards and brought meals.
