Obituary of A J "Mike" McGhee ~ 2004

 
Mr. McGhee was born to the late Pent and Etta Mae McGhee. 

He worked in food service all his life, starting at Cameron University in 
Lawton, OK, where he was Food Service Director over the cafeteria. He also 
owned and operated his own restaurant. He served in the United States Army 
from February, 1951, until February, 1953, at Fort Sill, OK. He loved life 
and his smile will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He never met 
a stranger and loved to visit as much as he loved to cook. 

Surviving are his loving soul mate and friend for fifty-one years, his wife, 
Billie F. McGhee of the home; three children, Michael S. McGhee and his wife 
Becky A. of Sneads Ferry, N.C., Mark L. McGhee and his wife Kelly L. of Holly
Ridge and Sherry Cunningham and her husband Clyde also of Holly Ridge; five 
grandchidren, Megan R. McGhee, Michele L. McGhee, Christopher M. McGhee, 
Morgan A.J. McGhee and Cameron A. McGhee; one brother, Evan McGhee and his 
wife Jean of Uriah, AL; and one sister, Ella Ray Kilpatrick and her husband 
Aubrey of Monroeville, AL.

He is also survived by two loving and devoted sisters-in-law, Margie Votaw of 
Ariton, AL, and Carrol Kennedy of McCurtain, OK. 

Mike died at his home at age 74.
